Waltz

The waltz originated as a 17th century Bavarian country folk dance before it found its way into European ballrooms in the early 1800’s. The Waltz is a ballroom dance performed primarily in a closed position. The waltz dance steps are smooth and the dancers travel around the dance line. It is distinguished by the rise and fall movement, a movement that is exclusive to this dance.
